The children really enjoyed their Christmas lunch today. It was so festive in the dining hall with their colourful jumpers and hats, decorative table cloths, jolly Christmas songs and a delicious lunch. Oh and of course Christmas crackers, you can’t have Christmas lunch without them.
We have been very busy with all the exciting Christmas activities in the classroom. We have been writing lists, creating salt dough decorations, decorating the tree, retelling the Christmas story, exploring the snow in the water tray and pretending to have Christmas dinner with our friends. What a fabulous time of year.
The icy, cold weather has enabled us to create these amazing pieces of natural ice art. We think they look beautiful. The leaves have been frozen in a bowl with water.
This week we have been learning about the concept of subtraction. We have been collecting different numbers of cubes and then taking some away. We then counted how many we had left and that we now had fewer.
The children have had a great start to their second term in Foundation Stage. They have thoroughly enjoyed seeing all their class friends, remembered all their routines and embraced all the Halloween and Bonfire themed areas to learn in. Having experienced these celebrations last week at home they were able to fully engage in either writing, role play, counting or drawing activities, not forgetting PE too! A super start to our Shimmer and Shine connector, well done everyone.
The children are becoming more confident each week at explaining to their partner what they have done at the weekend in their home school books. The children listen well to each other and some children have wanted to know more information so have even asked their partner some super, sensible questions.
